no scraps, no snakes, no screams!

Keeping your bins clean isn’t just about cutting down on bad smells; it helps keep unwanted visitors away too

no scraps, no snakes, no screams!

Dirty bins attract snakes! Warm spots, food scraps, and clutter around rubbish bins can draw in snakes looking for shelter or food.

As the weather heats up, snakes start to move around a lot more — and sometimes, they end up in places you wouldn’t expect, like near rubbish bins. Warm spots, leftover food scraps, and shelter from the sun can make bins the perfect hiding place for these slithery visitors.

To help keep snakes (and other pests) away, it’s a good idea to keep the area in and around your bins clean and tidy. Make sure lids are closed properly, avoid leaving bags or boxes piled up nearby, and try to keep grass and weeds trimmed back. Snakes tend to avoid open, tidy spaces, so a bit of regular maintenance can go a long way.

A clean bin area doesn’t just look better — it’s also safer for everyone, snakes included!

If you do spot a snake near your bins, stay calm and give it plenty of space, contact your local snake catcher or wildlife service for help.
